Sweet mother of Hades, I have not been active on this site lately. I completely missed the Halloween Art Feature, and I literally go weeks sometimes without checking in. I finally got my inbox down from 500+ messages (when did I start watching so many artists?) and yet there's still a ton of artwork that I need to look at, leave comments and critiques on, journals that are over a year old that still need reading, personally requested critiques, and so, so much more stuff that I need to catch up on.
For my inactivity, I am sorry. All of the precious little free time I have, I end up sitting watching stuff for hours, or quietly procrastinating on homework with personal artwork, or just...sitting doing nothing productive at all. It's a bit scary, since I used to be way more productive with my time. deviantArt was a site I came to to relax and unwind, to share and gain artistic insight, but any more I haven't been making the time for it. And this isn't the only site I've fallen behind on--everything from webcomics I love (and am still, theoretically following) to actual self-educational endeavours have all fallen by the wayside.
The reason? Short answer: college. College isn't something I'm new to--I've been a student for a few years now. But from me to anyone looking into art classes--do not take three studio classes at once, please. Especially not 2000+ level studio classes (aka, not beginner classes). They will eat up all your time. To top it off, I finally got a part-time job, which is great, but now I have barely 48 free hours I can devote to homework. Which means, for the first time in my life, I am usually behind on one project or another, and finishing them just barely in some cases. Mind you, I'm that annoying student who is usually a month ahead on almost all my projects, so this has been a really stressful and tiring semester for me.
On the bright side, Thanksgiving break is coming up, and I will finally be able to sleep in more than one day a week--and I will have five whole days to myself to catch up on stuff. Which means I'll hopefully catch up on some of the stuff I've been neglecting here (after homework, of course, because I still strive to be a good student).
So, long story short: Sorry for missing the Halloween Feature, because there are awesome artists with little to no exposure who need attention, but I'll hopefully have the Thanksgiving Feature ready. Also, sorry to all the people who I normally leave comments for; you're still awesome, and your work is still sitting in my inbox, waiting to be read or viewed. And sorry for the weird, out-of-nowhere personal journal; I know I never talk personal stuff, but I've really needed to get this out of my system, and I really do feel bad for vanishing.

Moving Accounts
Hello all after such a long silence--college has been taking up all my time, so I apologise for my ongoing absence.
I'm here to inform you all that I'll no longer be active on this account--financially it doesn't make sense for me to pick up a Core membership just so I can change my username here, and I think it would do me well to start fresh.
From now(ish) on I'll be over at the username plaguelily (https://plaguelily.deviantart.com/)
I'm still trying to get that account set up, but until the semester wraps up and I can deal with some other stuff, there won't actually be any art for a while longer. I should, in theory, have art up befor
Apologies and Ongoing Hiatus
I wanted to apologise for vanishing for months and months on end, as I have. When college is in, I am very, very busy, and as soon as it's out I'm usually so drained that I don't have the energy to try and maintain my dA page like I used to.
I'm hoping that this will change in the future--I know there's quite a few professional artists who use dA and other sites to upload their art, and in order to graduate I'm going to have to set up my own website and maintain at least one social media account related to my art (I'm not joking, the illustration teacher wants everyone to have an online presence), so sometime within the next year I'll set up

No need to apologize! You've got your priorities and it's good you're sticking to them. Keep working hard; you'll make it!
